Croxteth Hall

July 2020

It was an absolute pleasure to review the fire safety at Croxteth Hall in West Derby, Liverpool.

The hall is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

The original house (where im standing in front of) was built in about 1575, and has been expanded in several stages in Tudor, Georgian, and Queen Anne styles. The principal front, the west façade, was built in 1702.

Queen Victoria, Prince Albert, and their children stayed at Croxteth Hall on 9 October 1851 before visiting Liverpool the following day during torrential rain. However, the visit started fine with 700 members of the local gentry being entertained in the Hall grounds

Currently going through a process to rejuvinate this old but expansive and classicly stunning building for the purposes of public tours whilst retaining most of its original internal features has proved a challenge but has progressed incredibly well whilst also developing the onsite fire safety provisions and management.

Providing support whilst also getting to explore beautiful buildings steeped in so much history is a big part of why i love my job.
